A NATION GONE NUTS

Marcus Aurelius (121-180 AD), a Roman emperor and philosopher said, “To expect bad men to do no wrong is madness.” During the recent elections, I heard it said on more than one occasion that, “We can’t expect, that when the wrong people are elected to office, they do the right thing.” Certainly this should make perfect sense to anyone. But it doesn’t make sense to those living in a society that is manifesting advanced symptoms of what can only be explained as the insanity of sin.

Apparently and tragically, great numbers of Americans, are too educationally dumbed-down, intellect-challenged and/or spiritually corrupted to appreciate the truth that, to expect bad people not to do no wrong things is madness. So, they keep electing them to political office and do nothing to replace them with good people. This is characteristic of a society suffering from the insanity of sin.

In a society suffering from the insanity of sin, people believe that it is fine if people, for the sake of personal convenience murder a just-about-to-be born, or a newly-born, baby as eagerly and easily as one might kill a rodent for being an unwelcome presence in their house. At the same time they don’t believe enough tears can be shed, energy expended or money spent for the sqke of he “rights” of animals to have food, shelter, and a loving home.

In a society suffering from the insanity of sin, people think that the identity and role of a husband, wife, father or mother has nothing to do with gender. They declare open war on the traditional family, speaking of it as “an evil that needs to be destroyed.” In such a sick society drag queens costumed as demons are regularly scheduled to give readings on perversion to children and in kindergarten classrooms and public libraries. And the parents of these children do not utter a peep of protest.

In a society suffering from the insanity of sin, people talk about the “superiority” of socialism as a governing system, and allow this to be taught in taxpayer funded schools and universities. This in spite of the fact socialism’s demonstrated aim is to forcibly micromanage everyone’s lives, redistribute everyone’s personally earned income and abolish the concept that anyone should be allowed to privately own anything, A society suffering from the insanity of sin people ignore the fact that socialism crushes all dissent, forbid free speech and puts people at the mercy of its totalitarian system by disarming them.

In a morally-mentally healthy society people wouldn’t consider sexual intimacy between people of the same sex to be normal. Neither would they approve of, much less applaud today’s redefinition of marriage, etc. But ours is no longer a morally-mentally healthy society. It is a society that has been made crazier and crazier by its own indulgence in, and toleration of, sin.

Marcus Aurelius was right when he said, “To expect bad men to do no wrong is madness.” America is now full of bad men and women from the ghettos to anf throughout the suburbs, in the city and in the country, in Hollywood and in the backwoods; in state houses, court houses, and church houses – bad people who recognize no standard for what is right or wrong and care even less about it. And because of the insanity of sin our nation is increasingly becoming, from sea to shining sea, an absolute madhouse.

There’s only one cure for the insanity of sin, and that is a repentant return to, and a reconciliation with the God of the Bible. I refer specifically to the God who made two promises to a nation such as ours has become:

“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God."

—Ps. 9:17

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and

pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear

from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

—2 Chron. 7:14
