KNOW ANY CHRISTIAN, PATRIOT, NEVER-TRUMPERS?

Know any patriotic, Christian, Never-Trumpers? I do. Ever wonder why some Christians who love America are Never-Trumpers? I do. I wonder why good Christian people who are genuinely patriotic seemingly have as much animosity towards President Trump as, for example, the mainstream news media has (See The video referenced below). Most of the answers I’ve heard can be summed up in terms of his past involvement in sinful enterprises, bad personal behavior and the fact that his tone, his tweets, etc. are offensive. My answer: Most of our past presidents have had at least as much dirty baggage in their pasts morally and otherwise as has President Trump (I’m not excusing it; just stating a fact). And, speaking historically and as a matter of fact, no twenty of OUR past presidents put together have taken positions or accomplished what President Trump has in terms of what is pro-Christian and pro-American. And he has done all this within his first term in office.

I never heard, from these same Never-Trumpers, any such die-hard expressions of contempt and opposition for people like Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barach Obama; men with plenty of dirty baggage that they carried before they entered, and contributed to after they entered, the oval office; men whose positions were anything but in the best interests of Christianity or the pursuit of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and the upholding of our Constitution.

I just don’t understand what appears to me to be a completely lopsided and irrational double standard that has apparently been cemented in place in the minds of Christians who are proud and avowed “Never-Trumpers.” I may well be missing something in all this. But, so far, I just don’t get it, and I think this position, as sincere as it may be, militates against the best interests of Christianity and America.

Does President Trump have things in his past that shouldn’t be there? Of course. Most of us do. Are all these bad things still being manifested in his life? Indeed, they are not. Is forgiveness for, and the possibility of a person to change, a major tenant of the Christian faith? Of course it is. Is there room in the heart of the most ardent Christian Never-Trumper for appreciation of what he has done and is doing in support of Christianity and the survival of America as a constitutional Republic in order? I would hope so.

Wouldn’t, shouldn’t it, be incumbent on any Christian to think the best they can where President Trump is concerned and to pray for him as a soul for whom Christ died and for the sake of his success as President of the United States? I think so.
