HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR WORSHIP?

Jesus said, “God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth” (John 4 24). To really worship God, a person has to be in right relationship with Him. This is only possible through Jesus Christ. In other words, people have to have had an experience of repentance — turning from their sin; and, coinciding with this they have to have had an experience of faith — trusting in Jesus Christ as their Savior (Acts 19:20, 21). The only people who can worship God are those who have been saved and are indwelt by the Holy Spirit of God (Eph. 1:13-14; Rom. 8:9-11). Jesus said, “The Father seketh such to worship Him” (John 4:24).

Worship is important. John Ruskin said, “What greater calamity can fall upon a nation than the loss of worship! Then all things go to decay. Genius leaves the temple to haunt the senate or the market. Literature becomes frivolous. Science is cold. The eye of youth is not lighted by hope of other worlds, and age is without honor. Society lives for trifles, and when men die we do not mention them.” In this quotation is an apt description of American society and an explanation for why things are the way they are. Many, perhaps most, churches and Christians today do not know much about what constitutes true worship, and they care even less about how properly worship is conducted either privately or publicly. They simply make it up, as it suits them, as they go along.

Therefore people need to have a right perception of worship, and they need to practice worship in a way that is pleasing to God. How much genuine, God-honoring and God-honored worship will take place in your life and at your church today? (Please like and share this post, and go to my blog and subscribe).
