SOME PERSPECTIVE ON CORONAVIRUS

I often receive messages via Facebook asking for my opinion, advice, or “take” on various subjects, religious, political or otherwise to which I’ve responded privately. I’ve decided to anonymously post some of these questions along with my responses. Those who want to participate may message me. The hope is that this Q & A type sharing might provide some perspective, information, etc. that will be helpful. Here’s a question I received this morning: QUESTION: “What do you think about this coronavirus?”

ANSWER: What’s vitally important is that the coronavirus threat to and in the U. S. be kept in proper perspective as the left in Washington and the mainstream (currently the main-scream) media, merchandising on international human misery and fear, try to incite public panic for political reasons.

The deceit and disingenuousness of Democrat Party leaders and their media lackeys is shameful and obvious. But, it must be remembered that these are the people who subscribe to the “Never Let a Crisis Go to Waste” doctrine of former Obama Chief of Staff and now Mayor of Chicago, leftist, Rahm Emmanuel.

“Never Let a Crisis Go to Waste” is the Vladimir Len, Mao-Tse Tung, Saul Alinsky type strategy that calls for the magnification, or invention when possible, of crisis situations that may serve their political agenda. Understanding this will help explain the irrepressible expressions of glee on the faces of people like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Shumer during early press conferences related to the coronavirus outbreak. Frustrated in their ridiculous recent “Russian Collusion” scheme, they and their ilk see this as something they can parlay into another obstructionist attack on the Trump administration — something that might bring them another step closer to bringing about, in Barach Obama’s words, “the “fundamental transformation of America.”

There are ample examples of fear-mongering by the Democrat leadership and their mainstream media propaganda machine now inn play. For instance, notice the loud proclamations of lefftists politicians and the bold print headlines of the lefttist press that “Coronavirus is Ten Times Deadlier than the Flu!” Never mind that the death rate from the referred-to seasonal flu is 0.1 while the death rate from Coronavirus is (10 X 0.1 = 1) 1%. By the way, the percentage of those infected with Coronavirus and the percentage of those who recover from it is almost exactly the same. (For some thoroughly non-partisan scientific data as to the real threat of the coronavirus, go to https://www.livescience.com/new-coronavirus-compare-with-flu.html.)

So, the coronavirus, in contrast to what Democratic demagogues and other Trump-haters in high places would like the public to think, isn’t the modern day equivalent of the Black Death that killed off 45 to 50% of Europe’s population over 4 years during the 14th century. But, this is what these people, for their own political purposes, would have us believe. And they don’t care how many social and economic problems they cause Americans by doing this.

Should anyone be surprised that there are people in our government and media who are willing to tell any lie or cause any hardship to Americans that will advance their political agenda? Not when it is remembered that these are the same people who stand and fight for the killing of unborn and just-born babies, the unleashing of unlimited hoards of illegal immigrants into our country and sex change operations for little children, etc., etc., etc.

President Trump has responded to the coronavirus threat with preventive/protective action totally unprecedented by any previous president in similar situations. He’s done this in spite of the to-be-expected undermining, obstructionist efforts of Democratic leaders across the nation. He’s done it while Democrats tried unsuccessfully (as a prerequisite for their support) to force millions of dollars of funding for abortion into the legislation he asked for to deal with coronavirus.

For Democrats in Washington to try to make merchandise of efforts by our president to protect us from coronavirus was as predictable as it is despicable. But again, what else should be expected of people who enthusiastically favor the killing of unborn and just-born babies, the continual entry of hoards of illegal immigrants into our country and sex change operations for little children, etc., etc., etc.

In conclusion, there’s some perspective that should be kept in mind, especially by Christians. The Word of God reminds us that, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die (Ecc. 3:1, 2).”

The present coronavirus situation is simply a reminder that death is coming to all of us at some time, some place and in some way. “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Heb. 9:27). In short, Christians are going to die, but after this, whenever, wherever, however we die, we’re ready to meet God. Because we have personally put our faith in Jesus Christ as our personal Savior we are ready to spend eternity with Him in heaven. Our prospects, in spite of, and after, our deaths are, to say the least, pretty good.

“O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our

Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable,

always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know

that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

—1 Cor. 15:55-58

The coronavirus has stimulated a consciousness in many people that death is inevitable, and that ultimately, there’s nothing they can do to prevent it. The good news is that there is something everyone can do to prepare for it. God has provided eternal salvation and a future with Him forever to those who have saving faith in the Person and work of Jesus Christ.

"Ye shall now the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

—John 8:32
