IS IT A CRIME TO CRY “FIRE” IN A CROWDED AUDITORIUM?

Each and every one of the deaths resulting from the Coronavirus have been a genuine, heartbreaking tragedy; but, statistically, in comparison with deaths resulting from past influenza outbreaks and other causes, this virus falls far short of the overblown, Black Plague-like proportions that have been assigned to it by the news media. The history of news media is one of the exaggeration, if not the outright fabrication, of incidents reported. Sensationalism sells papers and grows ratings and is a vehicle for otherwise no-talent “reporters” to draw some attention to themselves. Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-11860) correctly wrote:

“Exaggeration of every kind is as essential to journalism as it is to the dramatic

art; for the object of journalism is to make events go as far as possible. Thus

it is that all journalists are, in the very nature of their calling, alarmists; and this

is their way of giving interest to what they write. Herein they are like little dogs;

if anything stirs, they immediately set up a shrill bark.”

Shamelessly and selfishly the mainstream news media has been at its worst doing what it does best. It has exploited the Coronavirus to serve its own agenda financially and politically. We know now that the false information disseminated by the now discredited World Health Organization was rashly digested in one gulp by the likes of Drs. Fauci and Birx and irresponsibly regurgitated to the news media which then pounced upon the opportunity to do what it does best when it is at its worst:

Handled honestly and sensibly, the virus situation wouldn’t have sickened and killed as many as it already has. The quarantines and lockdowns have prevented the natural course of immunization and the gradual elimination of Covid-19 as a threat; at the same time the irresponsible enforcing of these measures has brought our economy to the verge of collapse and emboldened government and mayors (Almost, if not all Democrats) to treat the American people as if we were chattel or little children. The news media continues to perpetuate the same disinformation and lies in order to keep as much of the public as they can in a state of fear and panic that continues to cause more death and destruction.

Early on, the Fauci/Birx team of medical experts along with the news media began to act like people in a dark, crowded theatre who, seeing someone light a match, begin to scream “fire” at the top of their lungs, and keep screaming “fire” as those in the audience panic and begin trampling each other to death.” If this doesn’t meet the criteria for being a crime, it certainly meets the criteria for being contemptible, and the people involved need to, in some way, be held accountable.
