WHAT DO AMERICANS AND THE CITIZENS OF HONG KONG HAVE IN COMMON?
For over five generations, the citizens of Hong Kong (a British Crown Colony until 1997) have enjoyed wealth, affluence and individual freedom unparalleled in the Far East and in most places in the world. It is a great cultural center with a government modeled after the British model and a society deeply influenced by Christianity. This is the only life that generations of the people of Hong Kong have ever known. But all this is changing literally overnight as Hong Kong is being taken over completely by Red China before our very eyes. Daily on television we are watching a once free and prosperous people become an enslaved and impoverished people.
John Adams once wrote: “A Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty once lost is lost forever. When the People once surrender their share in the Legislature, and their Right of defending the Limitations upon the Government, and of resisting every Encroachment upon them, they can never regain it.” In the case of Hong Kong we are watching a people who are right now in the process of experiencing the bitter and tragic truth of what Adams said. Right now, we in the U. S. are in the process of experiencing the bitter and tragic truth of what Adams said too.
We have a great deal in common with the poor people of Hong Kong. They are in the last stage of the process of losing their liberty once and for all to government ideologues committed to the enslavement of the human race to godless communism. We are just entering into the final stages of our own quick free-fall into communist takeover and tyranny compliments of politicians, media and others who share the same exact ideology as the new masters of Hong Kong . We have been pushed and we have sleepwalked to a place where we are on the tippy-tip of the overthrow of our free government and the irreparable loss of our individual liberty.
A couple of year ago, a few months ago, probably hardly anyone in Hong Kong would have seriously anticipated or believed that what is happening to them now could actually happen. It’s the same here: until a few months ago most Americans would never have believed that people in government could be as ruthless as they have proven themselves to be or that a genuine manageable medical crisis would be manipulated into a means of stripping us of our rights to assemble, to go to church, to speak, to move, to possess and use our own personal property. Neither would any have believed such things could happen so quickly; that overnight, our lives could so quickly be turned upside down and inside out. But this is what happened; and it is only a foretaste of what is to come if evil is not confronted and God is not effectually called upon to intervene on our behalf.
