WHY ARE SO MANY INTELLECTUALS SO MORALLY INSANE?

Scratch the surface of many of those considered “intellectuals,” “icons,” “geniuses” “great“ ones and “smart people” in any particular field and you might get a better perspective as to how really great or smart they are. I was stunned recently by the falsity and nonsense of what Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881), British writer, historian and philosopher said about the founder of Islam:

“It is a great shame for anyone to listen to the accusation that Islam is a lie and that Muhammad was a fabricator and a deceiver. We saw that he remained steadfast upon his principles, with firm determination; kind and generous, compassionate, pious, virtuous, with real manhood, hardworking and sincere. Besides all these qualities, he was lenient with others, tolerant, kind, cheerful and praiseworthy and perhaps he would joke and tease his companions. He was just, truthful, smart, pure, magnanimous and present-minded; his face was radiant as if he had lights within him to illuminate the darkest of nights; he was a great man by nature who was not educated in a school nor nurtured by a teacher as he was not in need of any of this.”— On Heroes, Hero Worship and the Heroic in History

Thousands of pages have been written over the past 1400 years that disprove most, and cast serious doubt on all the rest of what Carlyle wrote. If judged solely and impartially on the above paragraph alone he would qualify as a perfect liar and idiot. He and others like him were the forerunners or the “great” intellects today who simultaneously demonstrate genius in their particular area of expertise but mind-boggling, inexplicable stupidity where matters of morality as defined by God’s Word are concerned. These are those whose imaginations go wild for wickedness; who “lovest evil more than good, and lying rather than to speak righjeousness” (Gen. 6:5;  Ps. 52:3).

An inherent love for the sin that slowly drives them insane is what makes the otherwise “smart people,” the academics and artists, the physicists, physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, and nuclear scientists to political scientists, etc., embrace everything from gender diversity and critical race theory to Marxism, the murder of the unborn, and full blown hostility towards Christianity. We desperately need today, to recognize the reality of the demonic that is behind all this. Consideration of the following quotations may help gain perspective:
