INTRODUCTION:
Note: God has given us a chance in America to get busy about
the greatest business, work in the world.
Note: Three things in view here that we need to learn from, and
relate to: (1) the brokenness of the sower. (2) the burden the sower, and (3) the blessing of the sower
I. THE BROKENNESS OF THE SOWER
A. brokenness is evident in the way this sower is weeping
Note: v. 6a “He that goeth forth and weepeth … “
1. these tears aren’t superficial in nature
2. these tears are supernatural in nature
B. brokenness is seen in where this sower is walking
Note: v. 6b “[he’s] going forth”
1. he’s going away from something
Note: Mark 1:16-18 “Now as he … followed him”
2. he’s going after something
Note: we have to go after the lost
II. THE BURDEN OF THE SOWER
Note: v. 6c “he is] bearing precious seed.’”
A. the burden connected with our being in possession of this seed
1. what we understand about the preciousness of this seed
2. what we understand about the purpose of this seed
B. the burden connected with our being responsible for the planting of this seed
Note: Matt. 13:3b “Behold a sower went forth …sow “
1. there is a disinclination that we find in our flesh to witness to the lost
2. there are the difficulties that we face in the field to witness to the lost
III. THE BLESSING OF THE SOWER
A. the rejoicing that is promised to soul winners
Note: v. 6d “[he will] doubtless come … rejoicing “
1. the soul winner will enjoy a happy conscience because of his sowing
2. the soul winner will enjoy a happy companionship in his sowing
Note: Ps. 68:11 “The Lord gave the word: great was the company of {h} those that published it”
B. the reaping that is promised to soul winners
Note: v. 6e “[this sower will finally be] bringing his sheaves with him”
1. there’ll be soul’s that will be seen by us
