GET EDUCATED OR GET ENSLAVED
“And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.”—1 Chron. 12:32
Parents need to be making sure that their children understand what liberty is, its role in our national DNA, what the loss of it will mean, and who is threatening it now and what they stand for. Adolph Hitler said, “When an opponent declares, “I will not come over to your side,” I calmly say, “Your child belongs to us already.... What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community. Pastors inform themselves and their congregations. People in general need to do what they can as responsibly as they can to inform themselves and other people of what we have to lose and how and why it can quickly be lost. For a start, read and distribute my post, “A Lesson from History.”
Liberty without learning is always in peril; learning without liberty is always
in vain.”
—John F. Kennedy
Social media is perhaps the best way for people to inform and be informed, but we mustn’t assume that access to the Internet will always be as available to us as it is now. We must use every means we have, as well as we can, while we can, if we are to survive the clear and present danger our Republic and way of life now faces. What Winston Churchill said on the eve of Britain’s entry into World War II is applicable to Americans now:
“If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without bloodshed;
if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you
may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all odds against
you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may be even a worse
fate. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is
better to perish than to live as slaves.”
Pastors especially need to be thinking right now about what they should do and what they are willing to do if it appears that restrictions on our freedom is being unnecessarily and increasingly limited by government. America’s pastors and Christians took a stand and paid a price 250 years ago to make our liberty possible and pastors and Christians today need to ready and willing to take a stand today to protect our God-given rights and liberty.
