ARE YOU MINDING YOUR OWN BUSINESS?

MINDING YOUR OWN BUSINESS involves, first and foremost, the business of your mind. How you take care of your mind today is more important than how you take care of your house, your garden, your office, or anything else. Your mind is the main business you have to mind. Get your mind ready for each day – “gird up the loins of your mind,” the Bible says (1 Pet. 1:13). Let some of the Word of God come through your “eye gate” or “ear gate” and into your mind as soon as possible every morning.

Keep your mind full of positive empowering thoughts all day long: “Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Phil. 4:8). There are lots of things in your life that fit into these categories for you to think about.

Work at forming the habit of accentuating the positive and negating the negative where your thinking is concerned. “Man is born unto trouble” (Job 5:7), but we don’t have to bathe in or bottom out in our minds over our troubles or anybody else's. Mark Twain had some good advice along these lines: “Drag your thoughts away from your troubles,” he said, “by the ears, by the heels, or any other way you can manage it. It’s the healthiest thing a body can do.”

The main business you have to take care of is located right between your ears. Keep this in mind.
