THE BELT’S IN BAD SHAPE AND THE BUCKLE IS BUSTED

Just received this in an email from a friend: “… only 13 percent of eligible voters in Green County voted in Tuesday’s primary election. This is supposedly the Bible belt. Is it any wonder that the radical left is taking off over our country?” One news station reported a 24% turnout. Either way, my friend is right. The radical Left (let’s call it what it is) Communism, is literally in the process of dismantling and taking over our country, and the news out of Springfield explains a lot as to why.

Springfield, in Greene County Missouri has long been referred to as the “buckle of America’s Bible belt” because of the concentration of fundamental, evangelical churches, colleges and other ministries located there. This used to mean something in the most practical ways in terms of the Christian influence and impact that was had on this city, and that emanated from it across the country and around the world. Not so much any more. The Bible “belt” and most of what it once held up in terms of biblical Christianity has long been in great measure dry rotted out by Leftist liberalism and pseudo fundamentalism and the “buckle” has been busted for a long time.

And so, we have the following official 2022 statistics concerning Springfield today: “Springfield has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One's chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 12 … It is the only metro area in Missouri to rank among the 50 most dangerous cities in the United States. There were 2,993 violent crimes reported in Springfield in 2020, or 632 for every 100,000 people.”

A huge percentage of Springfieldians would still identify as born again Christians. So what? The non-voters typify the spiritual and civic irresponsibility of American evangelical/fundamental Christianity today, and help explain why communism and every other form of evil is raging across and taking over America.

There’s a lot of doubt and discouragement in many minds now where our elections are concerned. Fraud and criminality have always been involved in them, and now more than ever. But what Plato said over 2,000 years ago is still true: “One of the penalties of refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.” And by the way, not voting isn’t a protest. It is surrender. The solution to it all is in God’s promise: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chron. 7:14).
