THE COST OF GODLESS GOVERNMENT

In response to one of my posts below, a friend quoted Frederick Bastiat as follows: " The people are beginning to realize that the apparatus of government is costly, but what they do not know is that the burden falls inevitably on them." How true.

The "apparatus of government” in the United States now is more “costly” than most Americans realize or are willing to admit. The “cost” of our government — a government that bears little resemblance to what it was designed to be and what it used to be — is is far beyond the trillions of dollars of national debt that incompetent, immoral government has created. It must be measured too, in terms of the misery and enslavement that totalitarian government always produces for the masses of people over which it gains control.

William Penn (1644-1718) the Quaker founder of Pennsylvania wrote: “Those people who will not be governed by God will be ruled by tyrants.” Our government is becoming more and more a government of tyrants; people who, for the most part, are as godless as they can be, but not nearly as godless in practice as they would like to be — a godless government ruling people who, perhaps and probably for the most part, are godless, but not nearly as godless as they would in practice like to be.

The cost of godless government and the cost paid by a godless society is due to the high price of sin. The “wages of sin” is still in every way “death” (Rom. 6:23a), but the good news is that “the gift of God” is still “eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Rom. 6:23b). Do you know Jesus Christ personally as your Lord and Savior? This is the issue of all issues, the thing above every thing else that you need to have settled. (Please consider sharing this).
