TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES?

God addressed political tyranny and social wickedness in the 7th century BC; a situation and conditions being replayed today inn America where those wielding governmental power now are utterly godless and therefore capable and eager to perpetrate all manner of immeasurable brutality on any opposition. And, it seems as though a large portion of our citizenry is of the same mind, and willing to get into physical lockstep with this government.
“And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the Lord. Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders. And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity. Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the Lord.

Evil, sin-crazed governments and people are not “valiant for truth.” They are ‘People of the Lie. They hate and oppose truth in every way they can. They oppress, dominate and murder millions by way of their lies. They lie about everything and to everybody to satisfy their own wicked agendas and imaginations (Rom. 1:18-32). They are those addressed in Isaiah 59:3, “For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
People of the Lie, people who are haters of truth and would be eradicators of all truth people who are “not valiant for truth” can only be resisted and overcome by people who “valiant for truth.” Being people who are “valiant for truth” means being people who will not buy into or go along with lies; people who will express their rejection of any lie about anything any way and every time we can. Francis Bacon, in his essay, Truth, wrote: “No pleasure is comparable to the standing upon the vantage-ground of truth.” The Father of our country, George Washington said, “There is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it steadily.” An unknown someone wrote: “Light itself is a great corrective. A thousand wrongs and abuses that are grown in darkness disappear like owls.” America’s survival depends on our garnering the favor of God by being people who are “valiant for truth.”
